Welcome to BEST OF TIMES, WORST OF TIMES! Last week was astrologically hectic. This week less so (thank goodness). Let's see where the transits lie....
BEST OF TIMES: MERCURY DIRECT
When: MONDAY, APRIL 7th
Why: Mercury is leaving its retrograde, a notoriously pesky transit that tends to warp and weaken various forms of communication (Mercury rules over comms, conveyances, cargo, commerce, contracts, and all things coming and going).
While I find that my auto-correct always goes bananas during Mercury retrogrades, others report that their writing is riddled with errors or that their usual mental acuity feels duller during these transits.
Thankfully, Mercury goes direct on the 7th. Quicker wit, fewer mistakes, clearer communication, less struggle to say what you mean.
This transit will be particularly powerful for Gemini and Virgo, but we should all benefit.
Ultimately, a great day to return to some sort of writing that has seemed slow-going. Fresh eyes and fresh Mercury could lead to fresh results.
WORST OF TIMES: MOON CONJUNCT MARS IN CANCER
When: SATURDAY, APRIL 5th
Why: Usually the Moon loves this placement in Cancer: after all, it rules this sensitive sign. When a planet is in rulership it lives its best life there. Moon-in-Cancer, accordingly, is all about emotional attunement, nourishing others, and feeling nourished by your environment.
But hangry Mars is showing up to this lovely lunation, like some uninvited uncle, to bum out all the sweetness and light. Don't get me wrong: I like Mars. It's bold and brash. It helps get us up in the morning. It's kind of like cosmic caffeine.
But this Martian energy next to the little Moon in its white flowing dress atop a picnic blanket spread out under the knowing, sheltering elms of Cancer just doesn't mix.
Cancer+Moon=delicate emotional richness. When we add Mars we get an angry, passive-aggressive picnic instead. The ants and wasps will be all over the Malbec and Roquefort.
So, this is all to say: please change your picnic plans Saturday, if you have them. Sunday is a much better date for wine and cheese.

April Horoscopes 2025
โApril is the cruellest month.โ So goes the opening line to grumpy T.S. Eliotโs The Waste Land. A benchmark of high modernism, sure, yet not the most buoyant poem (for that I choose Frank OโHaraโs Chez Jane, perhaps). But still, might Eliot be right about Aprilโs supposed cruelty? Astrologically speaking, pretty much: the next few weeks, at least, are gโฆ
THE SILENCE OF THE LAMB
Itโs not technically Aries season yet, but I experienced some sadness yesterday related to a flock of sheep (all earthly brethren of Aries, the cosmic Ram).
ALL THE RAGE
Until April 12th, we are experiencing a Venus Retrograde in aggressive Aries. What does that mean and how might it relate to the trending phenomenon, โAdolescence,โ Netflixโs big new show? Letโs first look at our astrological terms and then the 4 episode mini-series.
Well I can say that Mars definitely made his presence clear during Saturday's Moon in Cancer for me lolz
Iโm scared lol
